Easy to read black and white markings. Whole inch, half inch, and eighth inch increments are included. Markings for 1 8in and 3 8in cuts are included. Turn the ruler around to use the markings for 1 4in and 3 4in cuts. Use the black lines to square up blocks in whole inches up to 6in. Use the white lines to square up blocks

got it for nursing school at UT Tyler. Love it as it's a great little resource to haul around everywhere which has a significant amount of great information which is needed for my classes and clinicals. Highly recommend it but due note that the 8th edition contains the same information merely a few pages are numbered differently and that older edition was nearly $30 less in price. Just an FYI if looking to save a few bucks...
